PHILANTHROPY
From TKE Nationals:
At
the 2001 Conclave in New Orleans,
the Grand Chapter adopted the
Alzheimer's Association as an official TKE philanthropy. The Alzheimer's
Association is a national
network of chapters commited to finding a cure and helping those
affected by
the disease. The
Fraternity has
partnered with the Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Institute, which
was
established in 1995, one year after Frater Reagan announced to the
world he had
Alzheiimer's.
TKE
has committed to raising $240,000
for the Ronald and
Nancy Reagan Research Institute.

Our Chapter:
Spring
2008:
On Monday, April 28th, TKE made $294 to be donated to
the Alzheimers foundation! In return for promoting Monday
night
specials, the Thirsty Turtle gave us a dollar for every person that
came to the bar/resteraunt that night. Hopefully, this is a
partnership that we can use in the future for both philanthropy and
fundraising.
Fall 2007:
The
brothers of the Beta Delta chapter worked together as a unit this
semester to bring in a very respectable sum to contribute to the
further research in the fight against Alzheimer disease. Before each
home football game, while other Fraternities were busy tailgating, a
group of brothers would set up contribution stands outside of Byrd
Stadium and receive generous donations from fellow Terps and Terrapin
Alumni. In addition, we co- sponsored a rock concert at the Santa Fe
café performed by local fan favorites The Great Scott on November 13th.
All proceeds from the event went to charitable causes, including our
own.
